２０１９年の参院選で立憲民主党から出馬した斎藤敦子氏（５３）が、新型コロナ禍での東京五輪開催を〝テロ〟と断罪して波紋を呼んでいる。

中止を求める国内外からの声を無視し続けて、多くの国民の生命を危険にさらしかねない〝スーパースプレッダーイベント〟の開催を「テロ」と表現しているのだ。
斎藤氏の猛烈な批判にネットも反応。「アスリート・関係者・開催国民等の人命を軽視し、殺人オリンピックを殺人テロを本気で起こそうとしている。自分達の利権のために日本人を犠牲にすんな。私達は貴様らの奴隷ではない」などと同調する声が出ている。
さらに海外でも波紋を呼び、新型コロナ禍が危機的状況にあるインドでは同国紙「ファーストポスト」が「元大学教授である斎藤敦子氏のコメントは、東京五輪に対するソーシャルメディアでの批判の代表だ」と取り上げた。
